What have you been up to?

Sorry about the little quietness in here. But you see, I’m on holiday. And I just haven’t felt like opening the computer that often. And I’ve been away from home too. Last weekend I was visiting my old home town. I went to see all the best workout spots and just enjoyed the fine summer we are having up here.

2013-07-26 15.55.352013-07-26 16.00.18I also went for a run. I ran about 6km in hot and humid weather, and it was awful. But I ran.

I have also been emptying my mother’s garden from berries, now I have ingredients to smoothies during the winter!

2013-07-30 14.27.342013-07-30 14.27.29I also went to the gym and did some box squats, box jumps (60cm box I think), dips, pushups, planks and that kind of stuff.

Yesterday I did more running, I managed to do 7k in 45min, good for me!

Distance: 6.0km, Avg.pace: 7:12 min/km, Avg.speed: 8.3 km/h

Distance: 7.0km, Avg.pace: 6:36 min/km, Avg.speed: 9.1 km/h

Total distance run this year: 263km

Tomorrow is time for a long run, and on Friday it’s travel time! I’m gonna pack my running shoes with me, but mostly I’ll be eating and that kind of things. 🙂

Hanging around at the gym

2013-07-24 14.43.55Bench press, bentover barbell row, romanian deadlift, bicep curls and tricep extensions. Nice and quiet gym, but I was in a hurry to get my ass to the next event:

2013-07-24 18.24.41Jam session at the park, laying and soaking in the sun. Awesome!

Stupid legs

It sucks when this happens. I have the feeling I could run and I’m all up for it, but my legs beg to differ. They just hurt and the running (well, it was far from running) sucked. I walked way too much, and now that I think about it, I should’ve turned around at 30min and just walk back and call it a day.

Distance: 13.0km, Avg.pace: 8:26 min/km, Avg.speed: 8.3 km/h

Total distance run this year: 249km

2013-07-23 18.36.13I took my tired legs to a football field, because my hubby wanted to test how fast he could run 5k. But there was a game, and he had to run off- track. I was supposed to tell him lap times, but since that plan went sour he went his way and I stayed at the field to watch the game and did some stretching (yay for me!). 2013-07-23 19.20.262013-07-23 18.57.40I also admired the bruise I got from Sunday’s baseball game, adorable isn’t it:2013-07-23 18.58.04Maybe tomorrow’s a gym day. Bicep curls like never before!

Weekly wrap-up, 29/2013

2013-07-18 20.09.31

Time for weekly recap on what have I’ve been doing. I’m glad that I haven’t given up on working out this summer. I usually do that. Summer comes, and one is just so tired of all the working and stuff, that one doesn’t feel like doing anything. At all.

  • Monday: Running 7k
  • Tuesday: Gym
  • Wednesday: Running 4.4k, Astanga yoga
  • Thursday: Walking 7,5k
  • Friday: Running 8.5k
  • Saturday: Hangover (that should count as a workout, it was tough)
  • Sunday: Finnish baseball, Running 5k

Do you guys know what that is? It’s a sauna. With an outboard motor attached to it. Convenient, drive your sauna in the middle of the lake and enjoy. Cool off in the lake and go back to sauna if you get chilly.

What can I say, Finns and their addiction to sauna…

Finnish baseball (and some running)

Once a year, a friend of mine invites her friends to a sand field to play some Finnish baseball. A lot of standing, plenty of running after the ball and some sprinting from base to base. I have never been great, good or even mediocre in the fine art of Finnish baseball. But who cares, I wanted to play anyway.

2013-07-21 15.01.51I’m a decent what it comes to throwing the ball. So I spent most of my time on the outer field. It was fun to play. Last time I played must have been about 10 years ago. Can’t blame me for too much practicing 🙂

2013-07-21 15.01.57Our Swedish player played well, and apparently he’s invited next year too. Everyone had troubles hitting the ball, but we did have a good time still. My team took a beating and we lost 20-10 or something like that.

After the game, I ran home. Now I’ve done my four runs for this week. Next week, it seems that there’s four again (45min, 30min, 100min and 45min). Three times a week is good. Four is a bit too much. But I’ll just do what my calendar tells me, and I’ll survive the half-marathon.

Distance: 5.0km, Avg.pace: 7:13 min/km, Avg.speed: 8.3 km/h

Total distance run this year: 236km

Running against the wind

On Friday I had some running on my calendar (I really do, running “appointments” in my calendar). The weather was miserable, windy and raining, but that really does equal a great running weather for me.

2013-07-19 13.19.30I ran 40 minutes and then it was time for something different. 5 rounds of 1 minute of running as fast as I could and walking after that for 2 minutes. Oh man that was hard. Especially when done against the wind. No wonder the first 30min of the run was nice and easy, I had the wind on my side. Going back was a different story then…

I bought this recovery drink, Hartsport. The name always makes me giggle, since it just sounds dumb. But maybe the green drink is good for me after the run. I sure did feel better after gulping it down.

Distance: 8.5km, Avg.pace: 7:13 min/km, Avg.speed: 8.3 km/h

Total distance run this year: 231km

Morning cardio

I don’t like mornings. I’d rather sleep until afternoon. But today I had to do a morning workout, since I got my lashes done (no getting the face wet in 48h after that) at 11am. So 8am rise and shine. Or crawl up and try to open the eyes.

Distance: 4.4km, Avg.pace: 6:53 min/km, Avg.speed: 8.7 km/h

Total distance run this year: 223km

Did it, and didn’t die or anything. But it wasn’t fun.
