4PM thunder storm

I was lucky today, 4PM thunder storm was a bit late today and is thundering away  right now (6:30PM). I can’t go to the store to get food, cause it looks like it’s going to rain heavily soon. But who cares, The Biggest loser season 10 is on and I have some crispbread and cold-smoked salmon 🙂 And what it comes to working out today, I cycled to work and back today. Over 201 kilometers cycled this year, nice 🙂

Hiding from the storm

It has truly been summer here. It’s all sunny and warm from 7:00AM to 4PM. Then one hour of thunder storm and back to sunny. It’s fine, the little rain. But as it happens I tend to be outside, biking home from work around the 4PM thunder. Today I managed to save myself from getting wet by waiting at a bus stop.

At lunch time it was a little better. There’s a nice park smack in the middle of the city center, a popular place to hang out, enjoy the sun and have a picnic. You can also try to catch some fish if you want to 🙂

Tampere is between two big lakes (Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi) and the river you can see in the picture is actually a rapid from Näsijärvi to Pyhäjärvi. The rapid stays open throughout the year, and it’s just pretty 🙂

I started this morning at the gym. I did some deadlifts, lunges and tried the ab wheel (still hate it). Not much to say, didn’t do any personal bests 🙂

After work I went to a friend to get my back massaged. My lower back has been bothering me a little. It’s nothing too much, but it’s annoying to feel pain in the right lower back when getting up from sitting down. My friend told me that I have some locks in my back and I should go and try ostheopathy. So maybe I try to find  one. Anyone been to one? How was it?

A little bit of cycling

Back in business, I’m not gonna let a little allergy win. Couple of hours of cycling it was today. It’s getting really really green here, what a change to that dull spring. I really don’t like spring that much. It’s all gray, brown and somewhat dirty and dusty. This green thing, this I like:

Looking for the spring

Didn’t find it though. It’s hidden beneath all the snow… Apparently in Helsinki you can find snow from 2010. Vintage-snow, who wants it?

I did a little biking tour today. Since is a day off from work (yay, thanks Easter!) I had plenty of time to do what ever I want. I started the day by having brunch with my dear friends. Foooooood and good laughs, nice way to start a long weekend.

Then I hopped on my bike, put on my daft helmet and went for a little 24k ride. It was a bit cold and a bit wet and a bit icy, but if one has a vivid imagination one is able to see that spring is just around the corner. Not yet here though.

Added bonus: ice cycling

I started the cycling season today, as I went to skating by bike. My boyfriend was kind enough to check the tires and that stuff, so I didn’t have to worry about them. The most exciting part of the thing was the icy roads.

“No maintenance during winter” Oh really?

But I’m still alive! And didn’t fall. Tomorrow, more biking and some helmet shopping. Why oh why are all bicycle helmets so damn ugly?

Rest of this night is reserved for the most promising diet show for a long time. The name translate as “My darling, you have become fat”. The idea is that couples compete for 10000€ prize, which they get if the fat one manages to shed 15kg in 7 weeks. The twist is that the normal weight partner is the personal trainer for the fat one. I mean come on 😀 Married couples and one is constantly nagging at the fatty 😀 I’m not sure which is more fun, watching the nagging or waiting when the poor one who is doing all the work is going to explode… These “loose weight on TV” shows are just constant source of fun. In this first episode, the couple goes to the local market, and the guy instructs the sales persons that they are not allowed to sell any candies or that kinda stuff to the girl. Great tv!

Cycling around lake Pyhäjärvi

I was pretty sure mother nature was again going to be a bitch and make my cycling workout as rainy as possible, but no! It was raining all day, but miraculously the sun came out just as I hopped on my bike. My goal was to cycle around lake Pyhäjärvi.

The route was muddy and slow, but views were great. After about 22km I noticed that my other tire was more than little empty. And that I was slower than I had thought. And I was really really hungry. So I ditched my original plan to cycle to my bf’s place, parked the bike in the center of town and took the bus instead. I just hope no one takes my bike 🙂

I was kinda uncomfortable while waiting the bus in my thights, red faced and sweaty smack in the center of Tampere, but at least I remembered to take my helmet off 🙂

Tri workout, here it goes

I figured that if I’m gonna actually go and get through a triathlon, I might just need to work hard for it. And by working hard I mean reading triathlon forums and blogs. If you have some nice blogs you know of, can you link them? 🙂

Yesterday it was a rest day, so today my mind craved some exercise. I hopped on my bike and went for a ride. Now why is it that every time I go for a bike ride, the rain starts pouring down? And I don’t mean just a small little rain, I mean heavy downpour. Why?

A friend of mine told me, that the change from cycling to running is the shittiest part and it is going to need some rehearsing and getting used to it. And let me tell you, it was shitty. I only did 1,5k, and it was so hard to get my legs actually running. My poor legs are in for some serious stretching tonight. (Watching the Biggest Loser season 8 finale is also on my agenda..) But the workout stats:
