Lauantai-illan hupia / Saturday night fever

Liikunta on suhteellisen addiktoivaa puuhaa. Vielä viiden aikaan tänään olin ihan varma, että en tasan lähde tekemään mitään liikuntapuuhia. Seiskalta olin lenkkipolulla. Tosin en juossut kovin pitkää lenkkiä, kun ei oikein sujunut. Miten vaikeaa se on muka pistää tossua toisen eteen? Tein sitten pienen kuntopiirin lenkin perään: dippejä, punnerruksia, erilaisia kyykkyjä ja vähän vatsalihasjuttuja. Paita hilautui ärsyttävästi ylöspäin koko ajan, ja sortsit olivat liian lyhyet. Ei hyvä. Näistä kaikista ärsyttävyysasioista huolimatta tuli sitä pari kilsaa hölköteltyä:

Total: 308km 2013-08-24 20.25.00Today I had decided to spend the evening at my sofa, but couldn’t do it. So just a small run, which didn’t go that well. My shorts were too short and my top kept riding up. And even the running didn’t feel good. I ran just 4k and did a little circuit with dips, pushups, squats and abs things. It’s still something eh? The views were gorgeous anyway 🙂

It just didn’t feel good

Thursday, running day. I actually was supposed to do this run yesterday, but I just didn’t feel like it. Instead, I did a 21k bike tour, and it wasn’t fun either. I’m not sure why everything just sucks nowadays. I don’t feel like doing anything. But I still do, so maybe this man-this-is-boring -phase goes away soon.

2013-08-15 22.11.32So green… I planned a 12k run for today. First 6 were uphill, which was kind of too much. After 8k I was just done, and seriously considered taking bus home. After 11k I just decided that enough is enough and quit running. It was slow and boring, but well. Done.

Distance: 11km, Avg.pace: 7:27 min/km, Avg.speed: 8.2 km/h

Total distance run this year: 294km (300km is done soon, cool!)

I have some plans for the fall. You know, the time when everyone is starting something new and healthy and something like that. Well, we are going to get ballet classes at our gym and I want to go and try that. Who knows, I might even like that. I’m also enrolled to a gymnastics class, which begins at the end of this month, that should be fun! Headstands, cartwheels and somersaults, here I come!

Oh, and look! I found pink laces to my skates ❤ They go well with my new leg warmers, which actually are ice hockey socks worn upside down…2013-08-15 22.15.13

Elliptical machine: is there anything as boring?

I thought I was clever when I figured out that I’d do 30min on a elliptical machine before gym. I’d get warm-up AND my 30min jog done at the same time. I do not understand why didn’t I use the treadmill. I do not understand why didn’t I just go out and jog. Elliptical machine is the most boring thing ever. I tried watch tv, I tried listen to an audiobook, but no. The time has never ever gone so slowly…

After what seemed like 3 hours, the 30 min was over and I could go and do my actual gym workout.

  • Allout: Bench press (narrow grip) 8*20kg, 8*25kg
  • Allout: Barbell bicep curl: 2*8*20kg
  • Giant: 2 rounds, 8 reps each: Cable pushdown (15kg), Cable bicep curl (10kg), Overhead triceps extension (15kg), Hammer curls (4kg dumbbells)
  • Abs: 3*30s plank, 3*10 slow slow slow crunches

After gym I did some retail recovery. New things from sporting gear shop Intersport (they have mirrors which makes one taller AND skinnier) and then some ice cream. And when I say “some” I mean “a lot”.

Yes, I wear training gear when I’m not at the gym. And running shoes when I’m not running.

Nice evening run

I hate running when it’s hot. So (sometimes) in the summer time one has two options: early mornings or late evenings. And I’m not a early morning kinda girl. Tonight I started my run around 9PM and the weather was just amazing. Sun was still up and it was warm but not too hot. And the views, amazing…

And after the run, I wanted to go to see the sunset. Yes, the sun does go down. But it was 11PM. We went to the beach which provides sauna and ice swimming during the winter, the view was great!

Total distance run this year: 194km (almost 200km, yay!)

 

Why does the running feel so hard?

I’ve never been a running addict, or a running enthusiast, but I’ve learned to endure (or even like) running. It’s easy choice and it’s faster to do than a spin class since I don’t have to to the fitness center for a run. It just does not get any easier or more enjoyable this running thing. That’s why I bought two pair of running shoes yesterday.

Really, I just couldn’t make up my mind. So I got them both. Merrel Bare Access Arc 2‘s are (almost) Barefoot shoes (8mm cush) are in the front and in the back are my more-cushioned Adidas Climacool Revolutions. So, today I tested the Adis and they felt nice. It was just that I didn’t feel like running. Half way through my “I’ll track your route and tell you your lap times and make you better person” app kinda crashed and kept loosing the GPS, and it annoyed the hell out of me.

  • Distance: 6.00km, Av.pace: 7:30min/km, Av. speed: 8km/h

And total amout of kilometers run this year: 120 km 

I may look daft, but at least I’m a bit safer

I did go to the gym today, but let’s get to that later. You see, my salary came and I went straight to the sports gear store. I got myself a new pair of running shoes. They are barefoot kind, very very light and apparently they are “natural” what ever that means. And look how pretty they are!

Tomorrow is running day, so maybe I’ll try these ones! I also bought myself a bicycle helmet. Remember I complained how ugly they are! But look, this is quite pretty too:

The only problem is that it’s me who is making the helmet look daft. It’s my fault, not the helmets. But I’m going to be the one at the supermarket, walking around in trainers and a bike helmet on her head. You know the type…

I’ve kind of deteriorated in what it comes to appearances. Today at work I realized that I actually wanted to leave my cap on because my hair was so messy and in need of a washing. Since practically every day afterwork I go and do some sports, I find it too hard to put on a nice blouse and a skirt. It’s a pain in the ass to wear them again after gym to go home. Maybe I should start carrying a pair of jogging pants and sneakers in my car, so I can change them on after work. It’s not that I would’ve been a fashionista before, but now things just have gone south 😀 I mean I used to care that my scarf would match the jacket at least somehow… So it doesn’t really bother me that I look daft with the helmet on. At least I get to a kinda free-pass to look daft in other ways too!

So I went swimming. I’m getting the hang of it, I can now swim crawl for 25m and it doesn’t go that bad. Today I did the following:

  • 3*(100m kicks, 100m strokes, 100m crawl)
  • 6 *(100m crawl, 100m breaststrokes)

1500m combined, and it took forever. 1h 12min to be exact. But I focused more to the technique, not so much to the speed. Speed will come, I’m sure of it. And related to swimming, I want this swimming cap:

Now there’s two days left this week, and I have one gym to do. Then I have finished my second “average” week. I have one easy week, 2 averages and one hard. I just have to figure out if I’m gonna keep my rest day tomorrow or on Sunday. Hard choices! 😀
